Set out on a fully private night tour in search of the Amami rabbit and other creatures that become active after sunset.
Travel slowly by car through the nighttime forest with certified guide Aasa, watching and listening together for subtle signs of wildlife in the darkness.
The experience is about more than spotting an Amami rabbit. Depending on the night, you may encounter owls, endemic rodents, frogs, snakes, seasonal plants, and, when the weather allows, a star-filled sky.

The Amami rabbit, found worldwide only on Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima, is designated a Special Natural Monument of Japan. After dark, creatures rarely seen by day become active. Visit an approved forest route with a certified guide, observing mainly from the vehicle. Rather than pursuing wildlife on foot, move slowly while scanning the forest with lights—like a nighttime treasure hunt for children. When conditions are safe, your guide may also arrange observation outside the vehicle.

Your night forest guide, Aasa, was born and raised on Amami Oshima and still lives on the island. Beyond looking for Amami rabbits, she draws on a local resident's perspective to describe connections among animals, their environment and everyday island life.
Rather than seeing habu snakes and introduced species only as frightening or unusual, learn how different living things interact to shape the forest.
As you encounter wildlife and listen to Aasa's stories, the darkness begins to feel different. This is an opportunity to see Amami's forests not only as a place to visit but as somewhere worth protecting for the future.

「奄美のあーさ」代表／奄美群島認定エコツアーガイド
奄美大島出身。18歳でバスガイドになる夢を追って上京し、約4年半バスガイドとして各地を案内。
その経験を通して故郷・奄美の価値をあらためて意識するようになり、帰郷後はアマニコガイドサービスで約4年間ガイド経験を積みました。
現在は「奄美のあーさ」代表として、奄美群島認定エコツアーガイド、第二種運転免許を持つドライバー、キャンドルアーティストとして活動。
ウォーターパドルレスキュー資格・上級救命講習の修了など、安全面にも配慮しながら、子育て経験を生かした家族旅行や女性一人旅への細やかなサポートを大切にしています。
「見せる」だけで終わらず、その場所がなぜ大切なのかまで伝えること。

4. Use lights to observe wildlife; if appropriate and safe, observe outside the vehicle.
5. If the weather is clear, enjoy the stars and the particular scenery of the night.
6. Descend while hearing about ecosystems and coexistence with nature.
7. Return to the meeting point or accommodation.
Note: Sightings of particular wild animals cannot be guaranteed.
